History

  • Russian commercial variety, developed by Volgogradskyi Research Station of VIR from a cross Mestnyi x Bush Beefsteak. Released in 1973.
  • First offered in the Seed Savers 1997 Yearbook by Glenn Drowns of Calamus, Iowa (IA DR G).
  • It is obvious that the variant we have in North America is much larger fruited tomato compared to the original Russian variety that is supposed to be only 3-4 oz.

Russian name: Волгоградский 323, or Волгоградский Скороспелый 323

The name means 'Early 323 from Volgograd' in Russian.
