Indet., but compact plants with regular leaf foliage produce very good looking, flattened and slightly ruffled yellow-orange cherries with great assertive flavor. Selection for flavor continues in 2013 from F5 generation plants grown from seeds saved by Olga Golikova of Coquitlam, BC in 2012.
There is a segregation (or another cross??) by color: most of the plants produced pink fruits, and 3 plants produced orange fruits, as desired.

Seed source:

F2 seed: David Lemasters, Pennsylvania 07

Year grown: 2009(F3), 2011(F4, crop failure), 2012(F4), 2013(F5)

Location: Zone 7b, PNW, Anmore, BC, Canada (760 ft above sea level)

History

  • A golden cherry segregating line of an intentional cross Sungold X Mom's by David Lieven of Belgium. Tatiana Kouchnareva (B.C KO T) has been working on this line in 2009-2013. Working name.

2012 growout: This is the earliest small tomato to ripen after SunGold F1, which is very impressive. I am getting some color segregations on the 6 plants - 3 are various shades of orange, 1 is beautiful bi-color that turns almost red in storage, and 1 is oblate bright red ~2 oz. Most of the fruit shapes and size are consistent between the plants, and yields are pretty good. It is small and flattish, like a mini-beefsteak, very unusual for a large cherry tomatoes that are usually round in shape. All the plants are relatively compact although indeterminate. A keeper!
#3 - Orange/apricot color, flattened shape, small saladette or large flattened cherry fruits with very good flavor with some SunGold undertone but with some acidic bite.

In 2009 I grew 4 F2 plants of Sungold X Mom's, 3 out of which produced red large cherries, and one plant produced golden peach-colored, slightly flattened large cherries. Fruits from all the plants had very good to excellent flavor, sweet and tangy, and the peach-colored cherries had the best flavor, intense tangy with sweet undertone.
2011 growout
late blight killed all my tomato plants in mid July, before any fruit ripened.
