B.C KO T

Very early, ~130 days from seed germination to ripe fruit, ~45-60 days from transplant. Compact determinate dwarf type plants with regular rugose foliage produce round slightly oblate 2-2.5" red fruits. Perfect for container growing, will do well in 1-3 gal pots. Moderate to high yields. Excellent sweet flavor, meaty and juicy. One of the first to ripen in my 2010 garden (June), and the pick harvest was in early-mid August.

B.C GI K

70 days, rugose leaf, determinate. Moderate production of red fruit, some green shouldering and very slightly ruffled. Firm fruit, good for preservation and sauces. Does well in pots, although my other plants grown in ground did do better. Sweet flavour. 3lbs per plant.

Year grown: 2014

Location: Edmonton, AB

History

  • One of the SSE members who listed it in the 1980s, ALB CO D, noted that it originated "from the Russian Doukhobors who settled in the mountain region of the west Kootenays of B.C."
