History
- This is thought to be a mutation of Striped Sweetheart. However, there is also a small chance that this may have been a result of some remaining instability (segregation) of Striped Sweetheart, and it may still not be 100% stable (but should come very close, as it is an advanced generation).
- It was first discovered by Sherry Shiesl of Alaska who grew Striped Sweetheart seeds that she purchased from Casey's Heirloom Tomatoes of Airdrie in 2011. Sherry got one plant producing black fruits with bronze striping. The plants were also potato leaf, same as Striped Sweetheart.
- Subsequent growouts by Jeff Casey of Casey's Heirloom Tomatoes of Airdrie in 2012 showed the same characteristics of both the plants and the fruits.
- Offered by Casey's Heirloom Tomatoes of Airdrie in 2013 catalog.
- Marianna's Heirloom Seeds also offers this variety in their 2013 catalog, but gives a different story. It is very possible that these are different selections from Striped Sweetheart, which were unfortunately named the same.
