History
- An old Livingston's variety, introduced in Livingston's Seed Catalog in 1889.
- Description from 1935 Livingston Seed Catalog:
- "Livingston's Stone. Introduced by us in 1889 (Stone type). Greatest for canning, tomato juice, catsup and chili sauce making. A large, bright scarlet red, heavy yielding, good keeping, main-crop variety. Skin perfectly smooth; flesh solid and fine flavored; seed cells few and small. After cooking, its think, solid juicy flesh has a rich, bright red color and delicious, appetizing flavor. For tomato juice packing there is none better. Even ripening, solidity and productiveness are its economy features. After 45 years it is still recognized as the best in its class. 76 days. Order from us for the original."
- PI 204999. Donated to the USDA in 1947.
