History

  • A family heirloom that was brought from Italy to New Jersey prior to 1900. It has been grown by Sochulak family for 40-50 years.
  • First offered in the Seed Savers 1986 or earlier Yearbook by Liz Lauer of Springfield, Maine (ME LA L), who received it from Sochulak Family.
  • A number of SSE members list this variety as potato leaf; according to Craig LeHoullier (NC LE C), this is not correct. Craig got the variety from the person who introduced it into the SSE, and it should be regular leaf. If indeed it is providing potato leaf seedlings for some people, a cross or mix up occurred in one of the seed sharing transactions.
