KY ST M

The colorful story about this variety is that it was given by Trappist monks at the turn of the last century. Unfortunately, it isn't true. It was grown by "Uncle Monk" in Nicholasville, KY, and became a family heirloom there. This tomato's color impresses me, a deep rose red, and yet it has a mild flavor for being such a red tomato, tasty and tomato-y. 12-20 oz, flattened beefsteaks, very juicy.

Year grown: 2007

Location: Sonora, Kentucky
