Very early, indet., very tall potato leaf plants with high yields of red round tomatoes, 1.5-3 oz, very good balanced flavor, reliable producer even in a bad cold/wet summer.

Matina was my best-producing variety of 2016 (out of about a hundred varieties). I started it in an unheated greenhouse. I transplanted it in early May. It was very vigorous, and kept growing and producing ripe fruits from about June 30th onward. It was so vigorous, in fact, that it pulled down the extra large wooden tomato cage I had it in (which incident delayed production for a while, but Matina eventually bounced back after it got used to its new position). The first fruits were mild in taste, small, firm, and perhaps somewhat blocky, but later fruits were two to three times as large, softer, a much deeper red, smooth-shaped, and tangy in taste (but I wouldn't call them acidic). More than one person told me they preferred Matina to my other tomatoes they tried (they didn't try all 100 or so, though). Production was much improved from the midseason onward. The plant was quite indeterminate and had nice leaf cover. It's definitely on my grow-list for next year. Most of my tomatoes had delayed ripening, this year, but Matina did just fine. It also set fruit in the heat (90+° F.)
