History
- A family heirloom that dates back to at least the 1900s, 'discovered' and introduced by Gary Ibsen, the owner of TomatoFest , in 2000. According to Gary, the seeds were brought to America during World War II from Bohemia, Czechoslovakia. See the story of the seeds at TomatoFest website.
- First commercially offered by TomatoFest at the price of $25/packet, earning the status of 'the most expensive' tomato seeds. Darrel W. Jones, the owner of Selected Plants, bought the seeds from Tomatofest, grew it out and saved about 8000 seeds in 2002. These seeds were sent to Craig Shea (Mischka) who then distributed them free to the Garden Web members. In 2003 Darell also sent the seeds to some major commercial seed vendors, among which were Sand Hill Preservation Center and Marianna's Heirloom Seeds .
- In his 2002-2003 growouts, Darrel Jones observed that the Marianna's Peace seeds that he bought from TomatoFest were crossed. There were several regular leafed plants, and fruit shape on the potato leaf plants also varied from round to fluted. The fluted shoulders are incorrect and this selection was not as flavored as the round shouldered one.
- First appeared in the Seed Savers 2004 Yearbook listed by multiple SSE members, who received the seed from Mischka.
