History
- The seeds originally came from the Ukraine to Texas, USA, and passed around in North America as Kitayskiy Oksamitoriy, which was misspelled. The original name is Kitayskiy Oksamitoviy, which means 'Chinese Velvet' in Ukrainian. We are so grateful to a gardener from Illinois, Olena Erickson, who helped us to the correct name.
- First offered in the Seed Savers 2007 Yearbook by Michael Gunn of Pasadena, Texas (TX GU R), seeds from Lyuda Battin, Texas.
- Introduced commercially in North America by Tatiana's TOMATObase Seeds in 2015.
