Early to mid season. Indet., dwarf (tree-type) plants with dark green regular rugose foliage, grow to 4' tall, perfect for a large pot. Small round red fruits, some showing a nippled blossom end, 1-4 oz. Balanced and pleasant flavor. (20 seeds / packet)

Indet. 4' dwarf plant that will load up and keep producing all the way to frost. Superb flavor that makes great salads or juice. Early, 70 days.

History

  • Developed in the 2006-2011 by the members of the Dwarf Tomato Project from a cross between Budai Torpe and Black from Tula, made in 2006 by Patrina Nuske Small in Australia and named Grumpy. This tomato was named by Sue Bailey of Alaska after the world class dogsled race from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska.
  • A selection grown by Richard Allen of Australia was sent to Sue Bailey of Alaska, who found and named Iditarod Red. Variety development was handled primarily by Sue, with help from Doug Frank, and seed grown out for the initial release by Ted Maiden, Tennessee.
  • Tatiana's TOMATObase Seeds introduced the variety in 2012.
