History

  • Originated from Darrel Jones of Hamilton, Alabama, from an accidental cross of Large Pink Bulgarian with an unknown parent.
  • Darrel shared some F3 seeds with Bruce Swanson of Deerwood, Minnesota (MN SW B), who continued the selection for the best performers for his cool Minnesota garden.
  • First offered in the Seed Savers 2009 Yearbook by Bruce Swanson of Deerwood, Minnesota (MN SW B).
  • Darrel Jones also has some selections from the original line that differs from the selection of Bruce Swanson of Deerwood, Minnesota (MN SW B), and these are probably better for warmer climates. I am not sure if these selections are available.
  • 'HeShPoLe' is an unusual acronym for Heart Shaped Potato Leaf (first two letters of each word).
  • Introduced commercially by Tatiana's TOMATObase Seeds in 2016.
