History

  • This was discovered in 2009 as a variant fruit from a Cherokee Purple by Rock Angier of Raleigh, North Carolina. It was introduced commercially in 2013 by Victory Seed Company .

A heart-shaped morph of Cherokee Purple that has the same texture and flavor, which becomes more intense when fully ripe. Its productivity is similar to that of Cherokee Purple and it is a few days earlier. It has a many-branched growth habit. Fruit averages 10 oz and has a flattened cross-section.

Seed source:

A single, heart-shaped fruit discovered in late 2009. It is a morph, probably of one branch, as no other heart-shaped varieties were being grown. It has since grown true from saved seed.
