- Developed by North Carolina Agricultural Experiment Station, North Carolina State University, Fletcher. Released in 1981.
- Parentage: [(Walter x Ace 55 VF)F2 x Walter]F7.
- Resistance to fusarium wilt races 1 and 2, verticillium wilt race 1.
- Not related to Cherokee Purple or Cherokee Chocolate.
- PI 600907. Donated to USDA in 1983.
