***NEW 2015 Release from Tomato Dwarf Project***. OSSI-Pledged variety. Indet. dwarf (tree-type) plants with regular leaf rugose foliage. 6-12 oz chocolate (yellow skinned brown/black) oblate fruits, both smooth and ruffled. So juicy, with not many seeds. Very good yield, excellent rich flavor. One of the earlier maturing large fruited Dwarfs. It sure beats Cherokee Purple for flavor. (15 seeds / packet)

History

  • Developed in the 2011-2015 by the members of the Dwarf Tomato Project from a cross between Wilpena F2 and Cherokee Purple made by Patrina Nuske Small in 2008 and named Plentiful. It was selected and named by Lee Newman. Selection and stabilization was a collaborative work of Lee Newman, Craig LeHoullier, Susan Oliverson, Ken Jacobs, and Patrick Sullivan. The starting seed sample was grown and provided by Bill Minkey.
  • Released in 2015 (F6 generation).
  • This variety is now associated with the Open Source Seed Initiative (OSSI)
    • The OSSI Pledge - " You have the freedom to use these OSSI seeds in any way you choose. In return, you pledge not to restrict others’ use of these seeds or their derivatives by patents, or other means, and to include this pledge with any transfer of these seeds or their derivatives."
