Late season, indet., regular leaf, low to medium yield of large red beefsteaks with some ribbing, 8-20 oz, excellent flavor, juicy and silky flesh.

Large vines need caging or staking, 84 days, good production of large (mostly 12-16 oz, sometimes larger) oblate deep red fruit. The fruit often are irregularly shaped, with some pleats and creases, predominantly at the stem end. They have a very good rich flavor with a tangy edge. As shown in the photo, they are very meaty, typically with few small seed cavities. Carolyn Male's description of the variety notes it as being tolerant of foliar diseases and doesn’t seem to be affected by blossom end rot; my experience is consistent with this. Regular leaf, indeterminate, red, medium, heirloom, Polish.

History

• Polish heirloom.
• Carolyn Male of Latham, New York, obtained this variety from Joe Bratka of New Jersey and introduced the variety to SSE in 1993.
• This is one of the 100 varieties described in Carolyn J. Male's book "100 Heirloom Tomatoes for the American Garden".
• SSE TOMATO 4036.
• Five commercial sources were noted for 2004 in the Garden Seed Inventory 6th edition.
