indet., regular leaf, round flattened and slightly ribbed red beefsteak up to 12-16 oz, excellent flavor, more acidic than sweet. Very early for such a large fruited tomato, and does well in cool and rainy years.

History

• Russian commercial variety, introduced by Andrey Baranovski of Minsk, Belarus under a translated name, The King of Giants. That was the name this variety was introduced to SSE in 2007 by Neil Lockhart, who received seeds from Andrey. In 2008 Yearbook Andrey listed it with the original name, Korol Gigantov.
• Trialed in Siberia, Russia.
• Here is the description from the commercial package from Russian CV 'Sibirskiy Sad':

Indet., regular leaf, large-fruited variety of Sibirian selection. The king of tomatoes by yield, taste, and large fruits. Round red fruits up to 1 kg, sweet, keep well, good for salads and canning. Up to 8 kg per plant.

Description in Russian:

• "Крупноплодный сорт сибирских селекционеров. По праву может считаться королем среди томатов по всем основным параметрам: крупноплодность, урожайность, вкусовые качества. Плоды округлые, красные, весом до 1000 г, лежкие, сладкие. Хороши как для салатов, так и для зимних заготовок. Растение индетерминантное, высотой 1-1,7 м в зависимости от условий выращивания. Урожай с одного куста дости­гает 7-8 кг. Сорт выращивается в открытом грунте и в теплицах, на 1 кв.м размещают 2-3 растения."
