History

  • Sent to Craig LeHoullier by Don Sparks (KY SP D) in 1993 with name "Yellow" and described as a regular leaf variety. Craig found it to be a large pale orange colored oblate tomato on a potato leaf plant, and renamed it Spark's Yellow in honor of Don Sparks. Craig then offered it through the SSE yearbook for several years. It is quite similar to Potato Leaf Yellow, a variety sent to Craig by Barbara Lund of Ohio (OH LU B) - but has shoulders that are more ridged/irregular, and a bit less flavorful.
