- Developed by Snag Hayes of Gallatin, Tennessee, who he grew this variety for years and passed the seed to his son Johnny, who continued to grow it. Johnny Hayes' widow passed some seeds to Al Anderson of Troy, Ohio (OH AN A), who first offered it in the 2010 Seed Savers Yearbook.
- In 2012 a regular leaf 'version' of this tomato also appeared in the SSE Yearbook, listed by Al Anderson of Troy, Ohio (OH AN A). It is likely a crossed seed.
