History
- A result of the breeding work of Jim Myers from Oregon State University (OSU), from a cross of a wild tomato from Peru with a commercial red tomato.
- This variety is not officially released by Jim Mayers, and should not be commercially available.
- Blue tomatoes have been selectively bred to produce high levels of anthocyanin, a pigment responsible for the blue and purple color, as well as for its antioxidant properties.
- Some hobby tomato breeders used this variety in their crosses and got some interestingly colored fruits in F1 and F2 generations.
