History

  • Jennifer Hutson of Ontario, Canada collected the seed for this tomato. She said: "this was not “the Orange Russian” but another one grown by the Doukhobors in Saskatchewan, Canada."
  • According to Wikipedia, The Doukhobors (Russian: Духоборы, Dukhobory) are a Christian group of Russian origin that dates back to the 17th century. The Doukhobors were one of the sects - later defined as a religious philosophy, ethnic group, social movement, or simply a "way of life" - known generically as Spiritual Christianity. The majority of Doukhobors moved from the Russian Empire to Canada in the 19th century and settled in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia.
