The flavor of this fluted slicer is similar to other whites I have tasted, mellow and mild with a fruity undertone. Unlike its ancestor Purple Calabash, Kenraken Niwasokoten Onon’onsera’ko:wa does not mind the cold as much and will continue to preform well many degrees lower than its purple counterpart. Indeterminate, regular leaved, midseason, and all purpose.

History

  • An accidental bee crossed F1 in a commercial packet of Purple Calabash, found and stabilized by Phil Seneca of Good Mind Seeds , Pennsylvania.
  • Kenraken Niwasokoten Onon'onsera' ko:wa translates to 'white pumpkin' in English, and according to the breeder, it can be called "White Calabash" in short.
