- Elongated oval leaves, slightly crumpled, dark green with heavy brown mottling concentrated in the center of the leaf, very attractive and strikingly different from the other speckled varieties (such as Speckled, Forellenschluss, Freckles, or Spotted Aleppo). Light gray seed.

- NJ CA J description in 2003 SSE Yearbook stated “given to me by Paul Rogert” and claimed that only a few French seed collectors are maintaining this variety that dates back to the 1700s.
