Indet., regular leaf, medium to large purple/black beefsteaks, 6-14 oz, slightly flattened, juicy and meaty. Outstanding flavor.

History

• Non-commercial variety from Germany (?)
• This variety originated from Prof. Klapprott, Germany who obtained seeds from a friend in former GDR (East Germany).
• First offered in Seed Savers 1992 Yearbook by Curtis D. Choplin of South Carolina (SC CH C), who provided the following description:

"70, indet., heavy regular leaf foliage, clusters of 3.5-4" slightly flat fruit, peculiar purple color with green shoulders, chocolate colored flesh, very good taste, tender skin, rots easily, will cross with red fruited varieties so it should be isolated, rare, may occasionally produce a plant with solid red or pink fruits, discard these as soon as found, I have grown these in total isolation for several years, Prof. Klapprott, Germany who obtained from a friend in former GDR (East Germany)."
