B.C SA D

potato leaf, saladette size fruit, yellow, a lovely burst of flavour with much more depth than Galina's Yellow; rich, deep nice "acid"/sweet balance. The only downside is that skin is slightly tough and fruits are a wee bit small.

Five plants from F1 #2 plant were planted; the yellows all ripened before the greens. #2 just beat #1 and #3, then came #4 and bringing up the rear was #5. Even so, it was a pretty close race. (all PL). … the plants are rangier than GMG, though they're not huge by any means. Quite 'well-behaved' really.
  • #1 - medium golden yellow beefsteak with pleasant but mild flavour. This is close to one of the tomatoes I am interested in. Perhaps a backcross to GMG would see the flavour and size improve.
  • #2 & #3 - golf ball sized golden yellow fruit with #2 having the edge in terms of productivity, though both were good producers. Both are pleasant to eat but neither were outstanding. Still, they are very nice tomatoes. (small golden yellow globes, bigger than a cherry, good tomatoey flavour. The first outproduced the second but not by much and flavour was the same)
  • #4 - smallish green flattened globe, some with an amber blush when ripe. Lovely minty green colour when cut open. Juicy with a very pleasant tomatoey flavour. It would be very nice cut into a salad. (a small to medium flattish green globe with amber skin. Quite tart flavour)
  • And the winner, flavour-wise:
#5 - golf ball size green with a marked amber blush. Lovely sweet/tart flavour. Juicy. (small green globes with amber skin, very pleasant sweet/acid balance. Bigger than a cherry) This is close to the second tomato I was hoping for - a green cherry with excellent taste.

So, we got close to the two objectives - a tasty yellow beefsteak and a tasty green cherry.
