History

  • The original 'true' variety should be potato leaf, but it seems to be extinct as of today. All the growers who received the original seed of Fritz Ackerman from Carolyn Male observed regular leaf plants, which means that it was crossed in Carolyn's garden, or mutated (which is a much more rare event than crossing).
  • It was introduced in the Seed Savers 1992 Yearbook by Carolyn Male of Latham, New York, who received the seed from Bill Ellis, who also was the source for Polish (Ellis) seed.
