B.C KO T

Indet., regular leaf plants with high yield of small to medium size pink tomatoes of variable shapes, from oval or blunt hearts to larger round oblate fruits. The flavor and texture is excellent. Although it is not a correct Beauty Lottringa, I think it is a better tasting tomato, worth growing and saving seeds.

Seed source:

Julien Schmit, Nancy, France 10 / forrest26 2008

Year grown: 2011

Location: Zone 7b, PNW, Anmore, BC, Canada (760 ft above sea level)

History

  • In 2010 Tatiana Kouchnareva (B.C KO T) received the seed labeled Beauty Lottringa from Julien Schmit of Nancy, France, who obtained the seed in a seed trade in 2008. What Tatiana observed in her 2011 growouts did not match the description of ribbed and semi-hollow Beauty Lottringa known in North America. The fruits were smooth and variable in shapes, from small oval/blunt hearts to larger oblate beefsteaks.
  • The further research showed that there is a smooth fruited Beauty Lottringa in Europe, documented by the late Luc Fishot of Belgium (see [1]). Perhaps the seed Tatiana got from France may be related to that smooth strain of Beauty Lottringa?
  • Named by Tatiana.
