History

  • Introduced as "Green" to SSE in the early 1980s by Dorothy Beiswenger of Crookston, Minnesota (MN BE D). Dorothy shared seeds with Craig LeHoullier in 1993 (she had a habit of naming heirlooms by color only). Craig added the prefix "Dorothy's" to distinguish it from the other green varieties listed in the SSE and tie it to her as the original source.
  • One of the varieties described in Carolyn J. Male's book "100 Heirloom Tomatoes for the American Garden".
  • Six sources (total for the two given names) were noted for 2004 in the Garden Seed Inventory 6th edition.
