indet., regular leaf, 1.5-2" round chocolate colored fruit with dark green shoulders, very beautiful and different from any dark-colored saladette/large cherry tomatoes I have seen before. Very good strong flavor.

2012 growout 

Plant #1 - brown/black round fruits, 2-2.5" in diameter. Plant #2 - small green fruits with yellow epidermis, some are flattened. Plant #3 - larger chocolate brown/black fruits, 4-6 oz, flattened and ruffled, beefsteak shape, very beautiful.

History

• Denise Salmon of Vancouver, BC, Canada found a yellow/bi-colored off-type fruit in the box of green-when ripe tomatoes labeled Tennessee Green sold by a local vendor at Nat Bailey Farmer’s Market in 2006. The sale person told Denise that this fruit was found in the field of Tennessee Green tomatoes. Denise bought the off-type colored fruit, saved seeds and shared them with Tatiana Kouchnareva (B.C KO T) in 2007.
• Tatiana grew out 6 plants from these seeds in 2010, and one plant produced chocolate colored cherry tomatoes, which was totally unexpected. The only explanation for a black cherry type to appear from a bi-color beefsteak tomato is that the bi-color beefsteak itself was crossed with a dark cherry tomato.
• Further growouts are needed to stabilize this variety.
