Year grown: 2009 - germination failure, out of seeds

Location: Zone 7b, PNW, Anmore, BC, Canada (760 ft above sea level)

History

  • A hybrid variety introduced by Burpee in the late 90s. Some tomato growers speculated that it was a renamed Red Brandywine tomato, because of its remarkable resemblance.
  • Burpee's catalog descriptions says:
"Organic Gardening testers voted this the best new tomato for 1999! It's got wonderful old-fashioned flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture. Our breeders took a luscious and richly flavored heirloom and added modern high yields, early ripening and a more perfect shape."
