Tatiana Kouchnareva (B.C KO T). Bubjekosoko - ripe fruit. 2013-08-24.

B.C KO T

Indet. plants with dense and pretty regular leaf foliage. Fruits are bright red, large round and slightly oblate cherries, 1-1.75" in diameter, very juicy. Excellent sweet flavor with just a hint of acidity that makes it delicious. Very impressive yields. I see why this cultivar was used in many breeding programs, as it carries so many nice traits, and flavor being one of them!

Seed source:

Robert Hoser, Germany 13 / IPK accession

Year grown: 2013

Location: Zone 7b, PNW, Anmore, BC, Canada (760 ft above sea level)

History

  • Maintained by Canadian gene bank. There is a documented evidence that this tomato existed before 1968 and used in some crosses, particularly in a cross with Atom tomato to produce a parthenocarpic line. This cultivar is mentioned in several research papers, and it has been extensively used in commercial breeding and research.
  • Polish origin? Although Ventmarin website says it originated from Russia, the name does not sound Russian.
