- (Borago officinalis). Annual herb with beautiful bright blue flowers that are shaped like little starts, hence it is other name, 'Starflower'. It blooms from late spring through all summer. Flowers are not only pretty, but also edible - they are the only known blue flowers that are edible! Young leaves are also edible, and they add cucumber flavor to the salads. Plants prefer fun sun. Easy to grow from seed, readily self-seeds, if allowed to do that naturally.
