History
- A 120+ year old variety originated in southeast Asia. (as per IL RA N, 2003 SSE Yearbook)
- This tomato originated from Dick Deason of Michigan, who got it from his neighbor, Jack Bilder.
- SSE TOMATO 2421.
- Originally listed in the Seed Savers 1991 Yearbook by PA LE C and MN BE D, who provided different enough descriptions to suspect a cross or some seed mixup. It is not clear whether the original variety was red or pink, but it was potato leaf for sure.
- In 1998 this variety was also listed as Builder by SSE Heritage Farm, who described it as pink and potato leaf. Neil Lockhart re-offered it the next year (1999), his seeds from SSE, and he described it as pink but regular leaf. This variety is still listed at SSE 2010 Yearbook by Neil Lockhart.
- A red potato leaf strain is available from Manfred Hahms of Germany (2010).
