- Moderate vines (5-6 ft) benefit from caging or staking, 75 days, good production of medium (4-6 oz) dark red elongated fruit with pointed ends. Meaty and juicy, good flavor for a paste-type variety. Some describe strains that produce noticeably larger fruit than what I obtain, up to 8-12 oz.

History
- A family heirloom tomato, originated in Wisconsin but "discovered" in Pennsylvania, the heart of the Amish Country. It goes back to the 1870s. Tom Hauch of Heirloom Seeds acquired this tomato from the Amish near Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and he was told that this variety came from Amish farmers in Medford, Wisconsin. Tom Hauch shared the seed with Landis Valley Museum in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
- It was first introduced in the SSE 1987 Yearbook by Thane Earle of Whitewater, Wisconsin (WI EA T), who did not offer any description, and since then, it has been offered again by many SSE members.
- Many commercial sources noted for 2004 in the Garden Seed Inventory 6th edition.
- Selected by the Slow Food USA for their Ark of Taste Program - see [1].
