History

  • Old Russian heirloom variety that was grown for over 20 years by M.I. Kudenkov, who worked at Russian 'State register of breeding achievements'. Origin is not known.
  • There is also a commercial variety called 'Kobzar Tarasenko' that recently appeared from several Russian and Ukrainian commercial seed vendors (2010). Although the description is similar, it is not the same variety as 'Kobzar'.
  • Introduced commercially in North America by Tatiana's TOMATObase Seeds in 2015.

Russian name: Кобзарь

Kobzar is an itinerant Ukrainian bard who sang to his own accompaniment. Kobzars of Ukraine were wiped out in the 1930s by the Stalin's regime (see [1] for more details).

Description in Russian

  • раннеспелый, круглый с носиком, красный, 100 гр, куст 40 см.
