History

  • This is a family heirloom that emerged in Garden Web discussions in 2006 or so, in posts of Joe Atnip. Seeds Joe sent Craig were low germination and mixed (potato and regular leaf). When Craig finally got a regular leaf seedling to germinate, it produced huge (over 2 lb) oblate sweet pink fruit. This is the seed source to Victory seed company.

This is what Joe says about the background of this tomato:
"All I know is that a man named Buckley (last name) raised the tomato for many years. He passed away about 15 years ago. He was from Dresden, Tennessee. I have asked his daughter about it and all she knows is that her father raised it for as long as she could remember.
I (Joe Atnip) got seeds years ago. I called it "Britches" because that's what we called my oldest daughter when she was a very little girl "
