Early. Det. (dwarf) plants with rugose regular foliage, produces a heavy load of saladette-sized red fruit very early in the season. Fruits are mostly round, 1-2 oz, some are slightly oval or strawberry shape. Mild acidic flavor. Some fruits have seed cavities only partially filled with gel/seeds.

History

  • Developed by Dr. Art Boe at the University of Idaho and introduced commercially in 1978.
  • Introduced in Seed Savers Yearbook by Glenn Drowns of Iowa back in the 1980s.
  • PI 645404. Donated in 1980 from Idaho, United Sates.
  • USDA Description: Ultra-early, compact, determinate, smooth fruit, resistant or tolerant to curly top virus. HortScience 13(2):200, 1978 Has concen. fruit set. The plant has a dwarf growth habit and coarse dark green foliage. The plant averages 25 cm tall with a dark red, smooth and 4-6 cm in diam. Each plant yields many fruits which ripen over a 20-30 days period. Suited for use in salads and home processing. Resist/tol. to curly top virus.
