Tatiana Kouchnareva (B.C KO T). Pink Cadillac - ripe fruit. 2014-09-07.

B.C KO T

Indet., potato leaf plants. Large pink beefsteaks, 6-16 oz with very good balanced flavor. Shy producer in our garden, so we did not pick many fruits and our seed count is low. (15 seeds / packet)

Seed source:

David Lemasters, Pennsylvania 08 / Gary (Tormato), Massachusetts

Year grown: 2014

Location: Zone 7b, PNW, Anmore, BC, Canada (760 ft above sea level)

History

  • Named by Gary (Tormato) of Massachusetts.
  • Gary says:
"I picked up the tomato at an unmanned roadside stand. Three tomatoes for $1. The three tomatoes weighed almost 6 pounds, so it was a bargain. One tomato had a "fin" on it. It looked like the tail end of a late '50's Cadillac. The tomatoes are pink. Hence, the name."
  • Unfortunately the name was already in use - there is an F1 hybrid 'Pink Cadillac'. So this can be confusing, as these varieties are not related.
  • Tatiana's note: It is likely a well known named variety, popular in the area.
  • Introduced by Tatiana's TOMATObase Seeds in 2015.
