History
- Originated in France. Very old variety that dates back to at least 1914, when it was offered in the catalog of Francesco Van den Borre of Trevise, Italy.

- First offered in the Seed Savers 2000 Yearbook by Donald C. Kellums of Port Byron, Illinois (IL KE D) and Bill Minkey of Darien, Wisconsin (WI MI B).
- Introduced commercially in North America by Double Helix Farms in 2012.
