History

  • Jeffrey Casey, the owner of Casey's Heirloom Tomatoes of Airdrie , received the F2 seed of Brandywine X Stupice cross in 2004 from Carolyn Male of Salem, New York. The original cross was created by Stanley Zubrowski in Saskatchewan, Canada in 1999. Jeffrey stabilized this cross for 5 years, selecting for earliness and best flavor, and released seeds in 2009, naming this tomato after his children, Maya and Sion, as well as after the city he lives and gardens in, Airdrie.
  • First introduced commercially by Casey's Heirloom Tomatoes of Airdrie in 2010.
