History
- Originated from Gary from Massachusetts ("Tormato" at Tomatoville), who bought a large 2 lb+ pink beefsteak at an unattended roadside stand in 2003. Gary saved the seeds and grew it out in 2010, observing potato leaf plants with pink fruits which were blunt hearts. He later came back to the stand, only to find an elderly couple who did not speak English. So the origins of this tomato remains a mystery. It may not be stable, as Gary reported that the majority of his 2011 growouts produced pink beefsteaks, and some produced red fruits.
- Heart shapes could also have been environmental, especially when both beefsteaks and blunt hearts appear on the same plant.
- "Kardia Karpos" is not a variety, at least not yet. It is a generic term used to name all the segregations ("heart fruit" as translated into English from Greek).
