Indet., regular leaf plants with small round fruits, 1-2 oz. Fruit develops a dark blue/black pigment in its skin where exposed to direct sunlight, and they are almost fully dark, with an exception of the bottom part which is pale red. Mild sweetish flavor. High yields. Very striking appearance in the garden and on the plate.

History

• Developed by Jim Myers at Oregon State University using traditional plant breeding techniques.
• Very rich in anthocyanins which are powerful anti-oxidants.

As per the article, "Indigo Rose's genesis began in the 1960s, when two breeders – one from Bulgaria and the other from the United States – first crossed-cultivated tomatoes with wild species from Chile and the Galapagos Islands, Myers said. Some wild tomato species have anthocyanins in their fruit..."
• This tomato got PVP status in 2014.
