Tatiana Kouchnareva (B.C KO T). Bill's Berkeley Pink - ripe fruit. 2012-08-20.

B.C KO T

indet., regular leaf, medium sized purple/black fruits with green stripes, similar in coloring to Pink Boar but slightly flattened and irregularly shaped just like Berkeley Tie-Dye, Pink. It was clear by the end of the season that these are the same as Berkeley Tie-Dye, Pink.

Seed source:

Bill W. Burkett, Dothan, Alabama 10

Year grown: 2011 (crop failure), 2012

Location: Zone 7b, PNW, Anmore, BC, Canada (760 ft above sea level)

History

  • An Accidental cross, discovered by Bill Burkett of Dothan, Alabama among his Berkeley Tie-Dye, Pink tomatoes, and it could be a result of some remaining instability of Berkeley Tie-Dye, Pink. Fruits in F1 generation were smaller in size and pink without striping. Bill noted that it performed beautifully in the hot climate and was very productive.
  • Bill's growouts of F2 generation gave a variety of segregations - from cherry tomatoes or various sizes and colors to medium striped slicers similar to the original Berkeley Tie-Dye, Pink, not the results he was hoping for, with an exception of 1 plant that produced the desired pink fruits without striping.
  • Bill Burkett shared some F2 seeds with Tatiana Kouchnareva (B.C KO T) for trials, and unfortunately all the 4 plants in Tatiana's garden produced black/purple fruits with green stripes, as the original Berkeley Tie-Dye, Pink.
