Location: Oblong, IL

History

  • Heirloom brought back from Rome.
  • Seeds were distributed by Rob Gee, OH, who received them from Andy Fusco (near Beaver Falls, PA), who was a retired steelworker and master-gardener. Andy grew it out for a steel executive who brought it back from Rome. This way the Italian heirloom also became a 'local heirloom' in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio, as Andy grew it for many years in PA, and then Rob in OH.

Original name

  • Anderson. 'Roman' was added to the name when this variety was listed at SSE by Will Bonsal, probably to indicate the origin of the tomato.
