Anderson Roman
From Tatiana's TOMATOBase
IL LO N
- 85 days, indet., regular leaf plant with good yield of red 6-10 oz fruit, very good flavor.
- Source
- ME BO W 99 (Will Bonsall, ME) / Rob Gee, OH / Andy Fusco, PA
Location: Oblong, IL
History
- Heirloom brought back from Rome.
- Seeds were distributed by Rob Gee, OH, who received them from Andy Fusco (near Beaver Falls, PA), who was a retired steelworker and master-gardener. Andy grew it out for a steel executive who brought it back from Rome. This way the Italian heirloom also became a 'local heirloom' in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio, as Andy grew it for many years in PA, and then Rob in OH.
Original name
- Anderson. 'Roman' was added to the name when this variety was listed at SSE by Will Bonsal, probably to indicate the origin of the tomato.
