* Seeds were given to Bill Yoder of Canton, Georgia by a gentleman in 2010. He obtained it from a very old lady in western North Carolina. She grew the tomato for many decades and called it Cherokee Black.
* Bill Yoder described it as "a darker version of a [[Cherokee Purple]] but without the green shoulders. The flavor is great and the production is outstanding. Much better than [[Cherokee Purple]]". Fruit have a nipple on the bottom.
