* A family heirloom from Claude Brown, Pikeville, Kentucky.
* Introduced in Seed Savers 1989 Yearbook by Donald Sparks of Pikeville, Kentucky (KY SP D), who obtained the seed from Claude Brown in 1987.
* In the early 2010s the name morphed into [[Claude Brown's Yellow Giant]], when Terry Lynne Tassone of Wadsworth, Ohio (OH TA T) listed it in the SSE Yearbook as [[Claude Brown's Yellow Giant]] (seeds from SMAC). So now this tomato is offered by both names.
