* A no-name dwarf tomato from the USDA tha … * A no-name dwarf tomato from the USDA that has many recessive genes/characteristics. Used mostly in breeding.
* NSL 187099 was donated to the NPGS in 1984 by Dr Charlie Rick of the Tomato Genetics Resource Center (TGRC) at UC Davis, California, USA. Line is noted in C.M. Rick Tomato Genetics Resource Center records as 'LA2513'. The original donor to TGRC was Dr. Ernie Kerr (Ontario, Canada) in 1983. Kerr's designation for the line was K542. No background cultivar information for K542 was noted. The line is obsolete stock and deactivated in 2004 by TGRC.
* According to Keith Mueller, this is not a "breeding line" but rather a test or "marker line". Marker lines are developed solely for genetic studies. They were never intended for release. Marker lines help to determine locations of newly discovered genes relative to the known locations of the marker line as well as test for linkages.
* This line was a marker for the following recessive genes:
** a = anthocyaninless, Stems and leaves always lack anthocyanin.
** c = potato leaf, number of leaf segments reduced
** d = dwarf
** gf = green flesh, persistent chlorophyll in ripe fruit flesh
** gs = green stripe, irregular longitudinal green stripes in epidermis of unripe fruit;
** h = hairs absent, long trichomes absent except on hypocotyl and at growing point
** marm = marmorata, Marbling of several tones of white and light green on leaves, stronger expression in greenhouse than in field.
** mc = macrocalyx, calyx variable in size, but always larger than normal
** r = yellow flesh, Yellow color of ripe fruit flesh
** wf = white flower, Corolla color is buff, light tan, or white.
** y = colorless fruit epidermis, Skin lacks yellow pigment fruit epidermis, Skin lacks yellow pigment
