Climbing Trip-L-Crop
Also known as Italian Tree +
Country USA  +
Description Indet., potato leaf, large pink beefsteaks, 10-14 oz. In our garden it was not as high yielding as advertised, but the plants did not get the best location and got barely 5 hrs of direct sunshine per day, so it would be unfair to judge them too harshly.

History * Breeder and vendor: Burgess Seed a * Breeder and vendor: Burgess Seed and Plant Co., Galesburg, Michigan. Listed in Burgess Catalog. 1937. * Parentage: unknown; probably one of more vigorous strains of potato-leaf Ponderosa type, parent plant found in field of Colossal. * Most of the growers report larger beefsteak fruit, which should be correct, given the parentage. Vent Marin describes it as potato leaf. SSE members who listed this variety in 2006-2008 Yearbooks did not mention leaf type, but we believe that the 'true' Climbing Trip-L-Crop should be potato leaf (see ). * Trip-L-Crop tomato listed in the SSE Yearbooks is described as potato leaf. * United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), PI 303799. Donated to USDA in 1965. * PI 6447419. Donated to USDA in 1961 by Burgess Seed and Plant Company. * There is also an RL version of this tomato available via some commercial seed vendors (i.e. CV Treml (Raritätengärtnerei Treml)). zen-treml.de/ Raritätengärtnerei Treml])).
