History

  • Old commercial heirloom, developed at Louisiana State University in the 1940s. It was once widely grown in New Orleans area, but now it is much more rare.
  • Parentage: Jefferson, Red Global, L145, Hotset.
  • United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), PI 647184. Donated to USDA in 1970 from United States.
