Tatiana Kouchnareva (B.C KO T). Coeur de Surpriz - ripe fruit. 2014-10-16.

B.C KO T

Indet., regular leaf plants. Medium flattened beefsteaks of variable shapes are brick-red with very prominent green stripes. Flesh is beautiful bi-colored green and pink. Excellent flavor. Unfortunately the yield was quite low, and we did not collect many seeds to offer it. Will certainly re-grow!

Seed source:

Louis Lacaze, France 14 / Madame Jacqueline Morel, Saint-Uze, France 14

Year grown: 2014

Location: Zone 7b, PNW, Anmore, BC, Canada (760 ft above sea level)

History

  • Developed by Madame Jacqueline Morel of Saint-Uze, France, who named it after her beloved dog, Surpriz. Seeds of the final stabilized version were released by Madame Morel in 2014 and shared with Tatiana's TOMATObase Seeds through Louis Lacaze, France.
  • According to Louis Lacaze, the Surpriz tomato known in North America since 2011 was not a stabilized version when it 'escaped' from the creator, and it did not meet Madame Jacqueline Morel's expectations. Basically, Surpriz was 'introduced' to North America prematurely. Madame Jacqueline Morel continued her breeding efforts and released her selection in 2013 as "Coure de Surpriz".
